January 2024 - Paula Ramsay

Over the past eight years, participants engaged in the Military Family Services (MFS) #MyVoiceMavoix Facebook page have witnessed this volunteer’s input and feedback, as she dedicates her time behind the scenes.

Paula Ramsay generously serves as a Military Family Panelist for the #MyVoiceMaVoix Facebook page. Her ongoing dedication and experience make a remarkable difference to the panel, which directly benefits the military community.

Lisa Vaters, Senior Manager, Military Family Services explains “The Military Family Panel Process plays a crucial role in supporting and advocating for military families. Through engaging scenarios, questions, resources, and fun activities on the #MyVoiceMaVoix Facebook group, families are provided with a platform to share their challenges and experiences. This valuable feedback helps enhance services, inform programs, and address issues that affect military families. MFS staff members monitor the page, ensuring that information on MFS or community partner programs and services is readily available. The input and experiences shared by families are incorporated into future postings on the Facebook page, creating a collaborative environment.”

I have enjoyed being part of the MyVoice team since it started years ago, we’ve heard great feedback from families which has led to improved services. Seeing how our weekly panel meetings bring change is an incredible revelation.

Volunteering can be very rewarding when you see that your help has made a beneficial difference in someone else’s life. Look at what gives you joy and find a good fit for yourself. My start began with helping my injured spouse find resources within the military for the member and I wondered whether there were also services for the rest of our family. Connecting with resources brought our family to a better place, and I extended my goal to helping others like us. It is okay for it to start with helping yourself (and your family) to gain confidence in learning all you need to, and it can translate into helping others very easily.
