Northern Lodge

The Northern Lodge offers a relaxing, rustic retreat with a Main Lodge, six cabins, two serviced trailer pads, boat docks and a beautiful beachfront.

The site is located on Lake Shabomeka approximately 1.5 hrs drive from 8 Wing Trenton, just outside of the town of Cloyne. (East of Madoc and Tweed on Hwy 7, then North on Hwy 41 at Kaladar.). GPS Coordinates: 44°53’3”N/77°08’43”W.

The Main Lodge is located at the base of the hill, directly in front of the beach and boat docks. It is intended for recreational use only and is not to be used for overnight stays.  Common amenities available at the Main Lodge include two showers, three toilets, a full kitchen, a washing machine, and cleaning supplies. Canoes, kayaks and some lifejackets are available at the Main Lodge. There are also two outhouses located onsite.

The cabins sleep up to six people (Cabins 1-4 have 1 double bed and 2 bunk beds, Cabin 6 has 1 queen and 2 bunk beds) with the exception of Cabin 5 (1 double bed, 1 bunk bed) that sleeps four and are equipped with electricity, a kitchen area that includes a fridge, stove, microwave, wash sink (non-potable water provided from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving), table, chairs, a screened in three seasons porch, picnic table, BBQ, and fire pit. Items not provided are dishes/cutlery, bedding/sleeping bags, propane tank for BBQ, firewood, potable water, and food. Group sizes are restricted to the maximum number of people each cabin can sleep, no exceptions. Pets are allowed, but must be on leash and cleaned up after.

The trailer sites can accommodate trailers up to 20 ft in length and are equipped with electricity (15 amp), water (non-potable) hookups, a fire pit, and a picnic table. Trailer sites are limited to six people, no exceptions.


Bookings become available as follows:

June 1st: Multiple bookings available for the remainder of the season, $100 - $125 per night, per booking.


How to book:

Booking requests are only to be made via email. Please include: name, SN (PRI or Employee ID), dates, backup dates as applicable, preferred cabin, number of occupants and contact number to [email protected]. You will be contacted By telephone for Credit Card information and will be charged upon completion of stay.

During the summer season (mid-June to Labour Day), only full week bookings from Sunday to Sunday will be accepted. There is an additional night charge for cabins and the trailers for the 8 day Labour Day week. Members may only book one cabin for one week during the initial booking period. For this reason it is highly recommended to provide alternate dates when submitting your initial bookings using the email booking request.

Spring (Victoria Day Weekend to mid-June) and Fall seasons (after Labour Day to Thanksgiving) will begin on Victoria Day weekend and continue until Thanksgiving weekend and must be booked as Friday to Sunday (or Monday for the long weekends). There is an additional night charge for cabins and the trailers for the Victoria Day and Thanksgiving weekends.


Groups

Groups may send their request in one email, however there must be one unique SN, PRI or employee ID number for each cabin/trailer site during first priority bookings. Bookings from community members with no DND, CAF or NPF affiliation is prohibited.


Refunds

A full refund will be made for cancellations submitted at least 10 days in advance of the arranged check in date, otherwise a charge for the full reservation period will be levied. Exceptions will only be made for service members with operational taskings verified through the Personnel Services Officer within the Deputy Wing Commander Branch.


Check-in and Check-out Times

Check out time is between 10:00-12:00 and check in time is between 14:00-16:00, unless otherwise arranged. Keys are to be picked up and dropped off at Northern Lodge during the specified check in/out times. Late or lost key return will incur an additional $50 charge.


Cleaning

This is a co-operative style lodge. All guests are responsible for cleaning their cabin prior to departure and assisting with cleaning the main lodge. There are no full time staff at the Lodge, however location is under remote surveillance and there are part time staff who provide necessary restocking and sanitization between guests.

All reservations will be marched in and out during the check in/out process to confirm that everything is in good working order and cleaned. Guests who fail to clean their cabins at the end of the week will be charged cleaning fees / left behind garbage will result in a $250.00 fee. Guests who damage effects will be responsible for the replacement cost of damaged items. Cleaning and damage fees are as per the schedule provided at check in, as well as a possible ban from future bookings.
