Become a Volunteer

We invite you to make a difference. Many of our volunteers were once helped by a HOPE peer and eventually became volunteers themselves.

The purpose of the peer helper is to provide one-on-one support to Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans or their families affected by the loss of a loved one and to have a positive impact on their healing journey.

Benefits of being a HOPE volunteer:

  • Helps facilitate an individual’s own ability to process and manage their grief
  • Offers an opportunity to give back
  • Makes a positive difference to others needing support on their journey through grief
  • Connects you to a community of support

Criteria:

  • Have experienced the loss of a military family member
  • Have the desire to help other people
  • Have reached a certain point in your healing process
  • Have completed the HOPE volunteer training
  • Be ready to listen to someone else’s story and be emotionally prepared to hear it
