Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Action Plan and Employment Equity

Why is it important to self-identify?

Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services is strongly committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce reflective of Canadian society. We believe that diversity and inclusion among our employees is critical to our success as an organization, and we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. As a result, we promote employment equity and encourage you to self-identify if you are a woman, an indigenous person, a person with a disability and/or a member of a visible minority group. Self-identifying helps CFMWS to increase awareness, acknowledgement, and understanding regarding different barriers within the workplace. With CFMWS diversifying the workplace, these barriers will slowly dissolve, allowing for an increased sense of community and belonging which lends to a worker’s productivity and creativity.

Employment equity

Employment equity, as defined in federal Canadian law by the Employment Equity Act, requires employers to engage in proactive employment practices to increase the representation of four designated groups: women, people with disabilities, Aboriginal peoples, and visible minorities. CFMWS has an Employment Equity Plan to support our engagement to EE.
